Half Day Tour of Angkor Wat
Spend half a day exploring the magnificent Angkor Wat, accompanied by a private English-speaking guide. Once you have taken in the sheer scale of the temple, and the wonderfully intricate design, you will understand why it has become a national symbol.
Despite dating back to the 12th century, Angkor Wat still remains the largest religious building in the world today. However the grand scale of the temple is only one of the reasons that this site is so revered by both locals and visitors. It is remarkably well preserved, and many of the walls are lined with intricate bas-reliefs depicting apsaras (nymphs), stories and myths.
It is believed that it took three decades to build Angkor Wat, and the construction was commissioned by King Suryavarman II to be his funerary temple. The design is intended to symbolize Mount Meru, which was believed to be the home of the gods.
