Full Day Inle Lake Tour
Discover the natural beauty and unique lifestyles of Inle Lake. Starting with a longtail boat journey across the river, highlights include a lively morning market, the five gold Buddha images of Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda and the picturesque village of Indein.
Begin the day by boarding a private motorised longtail boat for a journey across the lake to stop at the local market. Rotating its location on a five day basis, this market draws people from across the lake’s shore to buy and sell produce. Continue across the lake, passing stilted villages and floating gardens whilst keeping an eye out for the fishermen and their distinctive leg-rowing technique.
The next stop will be the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, Inle Lake’s main religious sanctuary. Learn about the history of the five gold-leaf layered Buddha images held within, and why they are so revered. Continue on from the pagoda to the small weaving village of Inpawkhone to visit a small workshop. Learn the intricate process of traditional silk weaving up close before continuing to a cheroot factory where traditional Burmese cigars are rolled by hand.
After a local lunch, travel by boat down a small canal to the Pa-oh village of Indein. Spend some time exploring the area on foot and wondering through the village to the beautiful Alaung Sitthou, an area brimming with ancient picturesque stupas that also offers fantastic lake views.
If time allows, you may stop at Intha Hertiage House on the way back to your hotel to discover more about the Intha people before returning to your hotel.
