Fairtrade Coffee Tour with Local Charity
Learn about the production of coffee in Guatemala, visiting a fair trade coffee estate in the town of San Miguel Escobar. Supported by a local charity, the workers will show you how they go about their daily lives and offer you a tasting session.
You will be met at your hotel in the morning for a short drive to the small town of San Miguel Escobar, just outside of Antigua. A local guide from the charitable organisation De La Gente (DLG) will meet you upon arrival and explain how the charity works to support small independent coffee producers and promote environmentally responsible agriculture in Guatemala.
You will be introduced to some of the families supported by this particular organisation and be able to see first hand how they process their coffee, pick, pulp, wash and grade the coffee. You will then be able to watch the workers roast coffee over an open fire and hand-grind the beans. The tour will conclude with a coffee tasting.
