Explore Central Java's Dieng Plateau, known for its ancient Hindu Temples, geothermal activity and volcanic calderas and stunning natural beauty.
In the morning you will drive to the Dieng Plateau through the stunning tea and tobacco plantations of the Sindoro-Sumbing valley. The name ‘Dieng’ means “Abode of the Gods”, a fitting name for this marshy plateau situated at an altitude of almost 2,100-metres. The remarkable Dieng Plateau is home to some of the oldest Hindu temples in Java, dating back to the 8th- and 9th-Century. It is believed that around 400 temples originally stood on this volcanic caldera, but today, only eight remain. In addition to the temples, the area is one of great natural beauty, surrounded by volcanic craters, sulphur springs, hot muddy geysers and mineral lakes. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
