Devil’s Nose Train and Ingapirca Ruins
Ride the famous Devil’s Nose Train and visit the Inca ruins of Ingapirca.
Early in the morning you will head south to Alausi to experience the famous Devil’s Nose train journey. This remarkable feat of engineering zigzags down a steep mountain into a picturesque river valley to Sibambe Station, with the journey taking approximately 30 minutes. Here you can visit a small museum and enjoy dancing with the local community before heading back up to the top on the train. Alternatively, you can return to the top of the mountain on foot, or by car, via a wonderful viewpoint before continuing your journey.
In the afternoon, you will continue south to Ingapirca ruins, one of the most northerly Inca ruins and an important site in Ecuador. On a guided tour of the ruins, you will learn how the area was used by the ancient Inca civilisation as an observatory and fortress. Look out also for where the famous Inca Trail passes by.
The final part of this journey takes you through the last of the Avenue of Volcanoes where you will end in the beautiful city of Cuenca, declared a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.
