Darjeeling Guided Tour
Enjoy watching the sunrise on Observatory Hill followed by a guided walking tour of Darjeeling, visiting the zoological park, the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, the Tibetan refugee centre and then Bhutia Busty Monastery.
Darjeeling was established as a hill station by the British in the 1800s as an area for their troops to rest and enjoy themselves. Nowadays, you will find yourself surrounded by mountain people from all over the eastern Himalayas. The views over the mountains to the snowy peaks of Kanchenjunga and down to the rivers in the valley are magnificent. It stands at an altitude of 2134m and is surrounded by tea plantations on every side. The tour begins in the early morning with a walk to Observatory Hill in time for sunrise, which is spectacular on a clear day. After breakfast at your hotel, you will be taken on a guided tour of the hill town, visiting the zoological park, the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, the Tibetan refugee centre and then Bhutia Busty Monastery.
