Culinary Delights of Vientiane
Like many countries in Southeast Asia, food plays a huge part in Laos culture. This hands-on cooking class, located in a local cook’s house, will allow you to uncover the secrets of Laos cuisine, and afterwards you can enjoy your creations for dinner.
Laos cuisine has been inspired by Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and China, and yet has its own distinct flavours, combining spicy and sour tastes. You will learn the art of Laos cuisine in a home-style outdoor kitchen in a local cook’s house. Using fresh ingredients, you will create a number of dishes such as sticky rice, laap (salad featuring meat or fish) and mok pa (fish steamed in banana leaf).
After the food has been prepared, sit down to enjoy a meal with the cook, who can explain the role that food plays in Laos culture.
This is a join-in cooking class, and so there may be other participants. You will usually start at around 17.00 and finished at 20.30.
