Coyoacan and Frida Khalo's House
Iconic artist Frida Kahlo's Casa Azul is a highlight of any Mexico City visit, and her lovely house is filled with art, crafts and mementos of her stormy relationship with husband Diego Rivera and the leftist intellectual circle they entertained here.
Discover the neighbourhood of Coyoacan where artist Frida Kahlo was based for the entirety of her life right up until she died in 1954. Coyoacan is a colourful part of Mexico City and home to Frida's 'Blue House', a must visit for many. The house itself still looks as it did during the last years of her life, with furniture, kitchen utensils, jewellery and outfits from Frida's iconic wardrobe still on display, along with a collection of her art work. Portraits of Lenin and Mao hang around her bed, and in the upstairs studio an unfinished portrait of Stalin stands before a poignantly positioned wheelchair.
