Coba was founded around 100 B.C., and was once a teeming city with 20,000 structures and a population of about 50,000 people. It was a connection point with 45 roads to other Mayan towns
and cities. Among its constructions is the highest pyramid in the Yucatan peninsula (42 m/126
feet), and the site extends for 80 sq km. We recommend renting a bike at the entrance to explore by yourself, or, in the local fashion, hiring a “tricycle” with driver.
