Canoe in La Boquilla
Just 20 minutes outside Cartagena lie fertile mangroves and small fishing villages and paddling through this lush vegetation in a canoe you’ll discover a rich ecosystem and a rural life far removed from the big city.
Boasting a fantastic diversity of vegetation and wildlife, including excellent bird spotting, the mangroves of La Boquilla are best explored by canoe. Paddling softly along the waterways, you’re treated to a chance to catch sight of some of Colombia’s resident and migratory birds, as well as a lush landscape of tropical foliage.
After paddling for around 45 minutes you’ll return to La Boquilla where you can walk around and discover this authentic fishing village. This trip will take around four hours but for those with more time you may choose to paddle onto Playa de Oro for a swim before returning to La Boquilla for lunch.
