Bird Watching at the San Jose Estuary
Along with over 100 migrants and residents, Los Cabos is home to 3 endemic bird species: the striking Belding’s Yellowthroat, the speckled Grey Thrasher and the beautiful Xantus’ Hummingbird. Experience them all in this 3-hour tour.
You’ll be met at your hotel by your expert naturalist guide and driven to El Estero de San Jose, a tropical estuary found in the heart of San Jose del Cabo and an excellent spot for bird watching. The estuary is located where the fresh waters of the San Jose River meet the salt waters of the ocean to form one of the only freshwater sources in southern Baja. For this reason, it plays a vital role in the region as many bird and animal species depend on it as their freshwater source. The estuary now consists of approximately 125 acres of protected land and features on the RANSAR list of important wetlands.
Please note that the best time for bird watching is during the Mexican winter. Round trip transportation, beverages and an expert naturalist guide are included but binoculars are not. We recommend taking your own along on this excursion.
