Bangkok City Safari
Immerse yourself in the local side of Thailand’s capital, discovering the traditional lifestyle of the local Thai people and enjoying some of the city’s best sights, journeying around Bangkok on public transport.
The full day Bangkok City Safari begins in the morning, where you will first visit to the verdant Lumpini Park. Stroll through the park seeing the local people practicing morning tai chi, yoga and aerobics, before returning to your hotel for a quick breakfast. After breakfast, you will take the Skytrain, getting off near the Chao Phraya River, where you will board a public boat. As you chug along the water, take in the city skyline and the houses teetering on edge of the river.
The boat will stop near Wat Pho and the Grand Palace, two impressive and famous Bangkok sites, and you will spend the rest of the morning discovering the country’s history and spiritual traditions here. Jump into a tuk tuk and whiz through the quieter streets to Soi Ban Batra, where you will visit a workshop that makes monks’ alms bowls. Watch the craftsmen at work whilst learning about the Buddhist monks and the bowls in which they collect their offerings. Next, catch a bus boat along the canals, rarely used by tourists, which will help you gain an insight into the lives of people who live along these waterways.
From here, take the short walk to the Jim Thompson house, learning about the history of this famous America silk merchant. Enjoy some retail therapy at the nearby modern malls & then head back to your hotel on the Skytrain.
