Activities at Saruni Samburu
Spend your days at Saruni Samburu enjoying a wide variety of wildlife and cultural activities which are included in your stay. Choose from game drives, visits to the hide or visits to the Samburu community and much more.
There is enough to keep you busy at Saruni Samburu for a week if you so choose. Set off on day and night drives in the Kalama conservancy where you won't come across another vehicle, and can look out for leopard, Grevy's zebra and the unusual gerenuk antelope amongst other wildlife. Or pack a picnic lunch and go into the main Samburu National Park for a full day's drive, taking in the large elephant herds that congregate along the palm-lined rivers. For a more peaceful safari, explore the area near the camp on a walking safari with an expert guide, or take your binoculars out for a spot of birdwatching.
Of course as well as the wildlife and spectacular scenery, there's a wealth of fascinating culture to discover here. Join guides from camp and learn to be a warrior, visit the local village Kiltimany to meet the Samburu people in their colourful traditional dress, or walk to the local caves to see the ancient rock art. It is also possible to trek up Mount Ololokwe, the Samburu tribe's sacred mountain.
