A Day in the 4,000 Islands
Enjoy an intrepid tour to the beautiful 4,000 Islands region. Travelling by bicycle and boat, venture through rural villages and farms, taking in dramatic waterfalls and keeping an eye out for the elusive Irrawaddy dolphin.
Travel by road to the village of Ban Nakasang before taking a short boat ride over to Don Khon, one of the only inhabited islands in the area. Explore the island by bicycle, pedalling through picturesque scenery, passing fading colonial buildings and verdant farmland along the way. On the western side of the island you will find the stunning Lippi waterfalls, which are best viewed from an old railway track.
Return to your boat and enjoy a scenic cruise along the river. Soak up the quintessential countryside scenes, including quaint riverside villages and local fishermen casting their nets. This stretch of the river is also home to the endangered Irrawaddy dolphin. Whilst sightings are rare, you may be lucky, and so ensure to keep an eye out for these elusive creatures.
You will stop for a meal at a local restaurant, where you can enjoy traditional Laos dishes before retuning to your hotel in the late afternoon.
You will usually set off at around 08.00, retuning to your hotel at approximately 17.30.
