A Day in Tayrona National Park - Arrecifes & La Piscina
Lying at the foot of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Tayrona National Park is rich in diverse ecosystems including mangroves, coral reefs, virgin forest, jungle and powder-soft sands. Explore this diversity as you walk along the pristine coastline.
Travel today towards the beautiful Tayrona National Park. This vast reserve is made up of 3000 acres of pristine virgin forest and dense jungle and 7000 acres of coastal waters and both on and offshore the wildlife is superb. Octopus, moray eel, angelfish and pufferfish dart in and out of coral reef and shipwrecks, while capuchin monkeys, Cotton-top Tamarin and 300 species of bird call from the trees.
You’ll be able to enjoy some of this wildlife as you hike through the forest, a walk of around 45 minutes which brings you to the soft sands of Arrecifes, an astoundingly beautiful stretch of beach lined with a tangle of jungle foliage. From here you continue walking to La Piscina whose calm, clear waters are ideal for swimming and whose sugar-fine sands invite you to laze a while in the warm sun. You return by the same route, another chance to spot some of the superb wildlife and birds of the park.
This full day’s experience is likely to last around six to seven hours, including travelling time.
