A Day in Hue
This full day tour will allow you to explore some of the most fascinating historic sites in Hue, including the Imperial Citadel, the Thien Mu Pagoda and the tombs of Emperor Minh Mang and Khai Dinh. You can also enjoy a cyclo ride through scenic gardens.
Hue's Imperial Citadel was the seat of the Nguyen Dynasty from 1802 to 1945 and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Whilst it was badly damaged during the America-Vietnam War, the buildings are still incredibly impressive. There are serene gardens close to the Citadel. Travel through the park by cyclo, stopping off at the pretty Tinh Tam Lake, which was once the relaxation spot for the emperors.
Visit the Thien Mu Pagoda, one of the most recognisable landmarks in the city. The pagoda has seven tiers, and dates back to 1601. Learn about the pagoda's interesting architecture and local mythology, and take in the views over the Perfume River.
Venture out into the countryside to visit the tombs of Emperor Minh Mang and Khai Dinh. The tombs are different to one another, but both feature intricate architecture.
On the way back to Hue, stop off to visit the Dong Ba Market. This is a good opportunity to catch glimpse of local life, with hundreds of stalls selling everything from clothing to fresh vegetables.
