4n Lost City Trek: Day 3
On day three you’ll reach the Lost City. With its terraces, stairs, pathways and remains of Tayrona homes, Cuidad Perdida is a beguiling, intriguing archaeological wonder, and a chance to delve into the culture of an ancient civilisation.
Today you will walk without the mules so it’s advisable to carry a small backpack and leave the majority of your belongings at the farm, as you will be returning here for the night. With a good day of walking and exploring ahead of you, you’ll hike through the morning to reach the 2,000 stone steps that lead up to the entrance to the Cuidad Perdida.
Arriving at this ‘lost city’ is quite simply breathtaking, and any aches and pains gained through the hike will slip away as you begin to explore the architectural triumphs unearthed by archaeologists. Take your time to explore the terraces, stone pathways and ceremonial centres before sitting down to enjoy a well-deserved lunch on the banks of a waterfall, whose crashing waters are said to have miraculous properties. After soaking in the fascinating history of the site you’ll retrace your steps to the Mamo Kogui’s farm for dinner and another night in a hammock.
