4n Lost City Trek: Day 2
Today you begin the longest trek of the route, with around 15km to cover. This is likely to take around 8 hours, though you’re rewarded with spectacular mountain scenery, indigenous villages and perhaps a swim in crystal clear waters.
Leaving behind the Wiwa indigenous camp you’ll walk through the valley of Buritaca, stopping at the Kogui Village of Mutanyi and the Vereda of Koskunguena from where you’re rewarded with a beautiful panorama over the Sierra Nevada. After crossing the Buritaca River you reach the farm of a Mamo Kogui, the spiritual head of the tribe. Following lunch on the farm you could refresh with a swim in the Buritaca River, enjoy the crashing waters of the waterfall and soak in the beauty of the hills. Your base for the night is a hammock on the Mamo’s farm.
